The Lumière brothers eventually prevailed with their apparatus and technique, presenting their first films in 1895 in Paris. Soon, the new medium was unstoppable. In the permanent exhibition cinema 1 of the DFF, not only the first Lumière films are shown but also many other black and white silent films from the early days of cinema.
