Plaster casts of individual acanthus leaves are found many centuries later in this image of a sculptor's workshop. At the studio window, living plants thrive, including a snake cactus with a red bloom. It belongs to the "Queen of the Night" species and was already a popular potted plant at that time, even Goethe tended to one on his windowsill.
