For a long time, handheld film cameras did not allow for truly free movement. Even when mounted on a train, they could only follow a single trajectory and line of view. This, however, posed a significant obstacle for filmmakers when they wanted to tell more complex stories or capture the new and turbulent century in action. The solution came in the form of air-powered cameras without a crank, which finally saw the light of day after 15 years of unsuccessful attempts.
