The Lumières mastered motion in film with great skill, so their invention literally took the world by storm. They responded to this global interest by setting their agents into motion. These agents launched a massive film colonization effort, and it was thanks to them that film quickly took over the entire planet. The new medium became omnipresent — although the first films had to cope with a stationary camera, the possibilities for where to place it were virtually unlimited.
