Like Günter Grass' "The Tin Drum," Uwe Johnson's novel "Anniversaries" portrays the era of the Third Reich through a family history. However, Johnson's chronicle extends further, up to the year 1968. Margarethe von Trotta adapted the over 1,700-page work into a four-part television production.
